Cloud9 Bids Farewell to tarik

By John Nomis | | Read more

Today, Cloud9 announces the departure of Tarik tarik Celik from our Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitive roster.

The world watched as tarik and Cloud9 ran the gauntlet at the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018, taking down G2 Esports in the quarterfinals, SK Gaming in the semifinals, and bringing home North America’s first Major championship with a thrilling double-overtime victory over FaZe Clan. We wish tarik nothing but the best as he continues his storied career.

“Cloud9 made America great again, it was the greatest honor of my career thus far. Memories that will last forever, I’ll always have you in my heart. Thank you to all the C9 fans for their endless support, together we made history.”
— Tarik "tarik" Celik, CSGO Major Champion
“tarik helped us achieve what was once thought impossible, and we’ll forever have that run in Boston. From day one, tarik brought his best, and his commitment and belief that we could win it all never wavered. I hope our paths cross again in the future and I’m certain success will follow him wherever he goes.”
— Jack Etienne, Cloud9 Founder & CEO

Cloud9 Welcomes Two North American Fortnite Squads

By John Nomis | | Read more

We at Cloud9 are thrilled to announce a massive addition to our family and to our Fortnite lineup! Please join us in welcoming Maurilio Blind Gramajo, Nicholas zoof Zufan, and Rex Topboy Holmstrom, all formerly of Team X, along with the Who Are They? roster of Christian Criz Rizk, Jared Bandit Jones, Clemente Shivsy Ibarra, and Brennan boss Amiott!

You’ve probably already seen some of Team X’s highlights, as both Topboy and Blind were in action at Ninja Vegas 18, with Blind putting himself on the map as the only player to achieve Victory Royale multiple times, as well as being the first player to eliminate Ninja at the tournament. Topboy, Blind, and zoof will be joined by a to-be-determined fourth with tryouts already under way as they round out their squad and prepare for competition!

Not to be outdone, the Who Are They? roster came out as champions in Season 3 of the StepOneBR Scrim League, racking up 31 wins and coming away with 1st place out of 320 registered teams. In doing so, they became one of three teams to accomplish over 30 wins on PC. Doesn’t hurt to have the #1-ranked player in Nevada in Shivsy backing you up!

“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be building out these rosters for Fortnite and I think we’ve got an incredible head start by bringing both of these teams on board. I know they’re going to establish Cloud9 right off the bat.”
— Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Founder

The work doesn’t stop here, however, as Cloud9 continues to be on the lookout for talented players to bring on board, both to our professional and streaming teams. We’re looking forward to bringing you more updates soon, and until then... Where we droppin’?

FNS Moved to Inactive on C9CSGO Roster

By John Nomis | | Read more

The Cloud9 CSGO squad has decided to designate FNS as inactive. The organization was excited to welcome him to our family and we had high hopes of continuing what we started in Boston earlier this year. In our time together, it became clear that the strategic visions we had were not as compatible as we had initially hoped. After extensive discussions between the players, staff, and front office, all parties have agreed that this is the best course of action.

FNS brought with him the structure, discipline, and leadership that led him to success with former teams, but the differences in philosophies proved to be too great to form the cohesion we needed to accomplish the results we know we are capable of. Both the team and FNS arrived at the conclusion that the time and energy of all parties would be better spent seeking out more suitable arrangements for their respective play-styles.

FNS will play for Cloud9 at the upcoming ECS Finals in London but we are open to offers and opportunities from other teams immediately. At ECS, Tarik will take over the role of IGL as we begin to build for the future. We are all excited to play together one final time and will be looking to put together a performance worthy of our fans. Our starting roster will continue to develop beyond ECS and we will be providing updates on those changes as they come.

Cloud9 is very grateful to FNS for his dedication during his time with us. We wish him the best of luck and know that his future is bright. For more information about the Cloud9 CSGO team, visit their team page via the banner below.
