By John Nomis | | Read more

We at Cloud9 are excited to welcome Jordan Zellsis Montemurro to the C9 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster on a trial period! Zellsis is joining us via Swole Patrol, where he had been playing since January. During his time there, Zellsis was instrumental in securing several victories in qualifiers, along with victories at Legends Series: North America and Fragadelphia 12.

“Although this is only a trial for Cloud9, I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to not only represent this organization and play under such experienced players, but also to prove myself as a player and as a person. I will use this time to gain what I can and further improve myself as a player and I hope I can bring something special to this team and Cloud9.” --Jordan Zellsis Montemurro

“In 2018 we brought North America its greatest victory in Counter-Strike history and we’re eager to get back to it in the new year. Zellsis is more than ready to jump into the fray with us and we’re looking forward to seeing his skills in action and kicking off 2019 on the right foot.” --Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Owner

Along with this signing, we also want to announce an update on Maikil Golden Selim. British Hurricane Welcome KnOxXx and Dannedd

By John Nomis | | Read more

We at the British Hurricane are thrilled to announce two new faces with the organization, Jean-Louis KnOxXx Boyer as head coach and Daniel Dannedd Rosdahl as DPS! KnOxXx brings with him a wealth of experience, dating back to the very first days of Overwatch, and Dannedd steps in to replace Kyb and is ready to blaze his own path in Overwatch Contenders 2018 Season 3: Europe!

KnOxXx is as veteran a presence as you can come across in the Competitive Overwatch scene, with his career beginning in November of 2015. His extensive list of accolades includes championships at APAC Premier 2016, Overwatch TaKeOver 2, and most recently, KnOxXx was a part of Eagle Gaming’s championship run in Overwatch Contenders 2018 Season 2: Europe. His leadership has already made waves with the Hurricane and we’re thrilled to have him at the helm.

Dannedd joins us from Orgless and Hungry and he’s already made an impact through his Meteor Strikes as Doomfist. Although those have been his most highlighted plays, Dannedd possesses a deep skillset that we’re excited to show off in our next match!

“It wasn’t easy for us to find someone capable of filling Kyb’s shoes in the middle of the season, but Dannedd was up to the task and already feels like an important part of the team. As for KnOxXx, he is well respected amongst players and has proven to be a great addition to our staff team bringing structure and more efficiency, so we’re very excited to work with him. Can’t wait to show everyone what this new team is capable of!” --Ysabel “Noukky” Müller, British Hurricane Team Manager

“We all knew it was only a matter of time before OWL came knocking for the talent we’ve cultivated here at Hurricane, and I’m so proud of how the players, staff, and front office have handled the changes. We’re excited to welcome the newest members of the Hurricane and C9 family and there’s no doubt in my mind that KnOxXx and Dannedd will be turning heads soon as well.” --Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Owner

KnOxXx’s strategies and Dannedd’s stellar play have already paid off, as the Hurricane came away with a 2-1 victory today over Shu's Money Crew EU! You can see them again on December 9th against Orgless and Hungry!

Cloud9 Welcomes Nisqy to League of Legends Roster

By John Nomis | | Read more

We at Cloud9 are thrilled to welcome the newest member of the League of Legends roster, Mid Laner Yasin Nisqy Dinçer! With his presence in competitive League of Legends dating back to 2014, Nisqy brings with him a skill set that already makes him a seasoned veteran at only 20 years old.

Prior to his time at the LCS level Nisqy had already racked up the accolades, with a championship coming at ESL Championnat National 2015 Spring, during his time with InFamouS eSport, and championship runs at DreamHack Tours 2016, ESL Championnat National 2016 Summer, and DreamHack Valencia 2016 all coming during his time with Melty eSport Club, which led to him landing a spot on the Fnatic Academy roster.

His tenure with Fnatic Academy continued to garner attention, resulting in a contract with Team EnVyUs for NA LCS 2017 Summer, where he helped the team to a playoff berth and a 5th/6th place finish. Following his time there, Nisqy was signed to Splyce for 2018 and once again proved to be an asset, leading the team to a 3rd-place finish in EU LCS 2018 Spring and a playoff appearance in the Summer Split. With playoff appearances in every one of his splits at the LCS level, Nisqy and Cloud9 are thrilled to be combining forces on The Rift!

“I’m really happy to join the C9 Family, it’s an honor for me to be part of one of the biggest organizations in the world. I’m not here to fit Jensen’s shoes but to build my own legacy. I will work hard to make you guys proud and to repay Jack for his trust!”
— Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer
“Nisqy has been turning heads for a long time now and it was an easy decision for us to welcome him to Cloud9. The work he has put in to get here is second to none, and that work ethic is going to be a perfect fit. Welcome to the C9 family, Nisqy!”
— Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Owner

Thank You, Jensen

By John Nomis | | Read more

We at Cloud9 announce today that Mid Laner Nicolaj Jensen Jensen has signed with Team Liquid for the upcoming year. Jensen has been a staple of Cloud9 League of Legends for the past three years, since joining the team in May of 2015, and the impact he has made both on the rift and off of it simply cannot be replicated.

Jensen joined Cloud9 in the Summer of 2015 as Incarnati0n, and it didn’t take long for him to make his mark, as he was a vital component of Cloud9’s historic and unforgettable run at the 2015 North American Regional Finals, the Gauntlet, which sent Cloud9 to Worlds. Following a tag change to Jensen, 2016 would bring successes as well, with back-to-back 3rd-place regular season finishes in Spring and Summer Splits, along with a 2nd-place playoffs finish in Summer. Faced with the Gauntlet yet again, Jensen and Cloud9 continued the trend started a year prior and punched their ticket to Worlds with a 3-1 victory over Immortals. At Worlds 2016, Jensen helped Cloud9 continue to be North America’s last hope, advancing to the quarterfinals before where their journey ended with a 5th-8th place finish.

It was a year of highs and lows in 2017, with Jensen and Cloud9 coming arguably one play away from winning Spring Split, followed by having an uncharacteristic early exit in the Summer Split playoffs. Jensen and the team were undeterred, however, again proving that there was no feeling more hopeless than that of a matchup against Cloud9 in the Gauntlet. A 3-1 victory over Counter Logic Gaming sent C9 to Worlds 2017, where Cloud9 once more played the role of North America’s last hope, faltering with a quarterfinals exit and a 5th-8th place finish.

Perhaps the greatest triumph Jensen helped Cloud9 achieve came just weeks ago at Worlds 2018, where Jensen played a pivotal role in not only being North America’s last hope, but by being an integral part of the deepest run Cloud9 has ever made on the Worlds Stage. With Jensen at the helm, Cloud9 secured a place in the semifinals, the first North American team to have done so in seven years, and brought home a 3rd-4th place finish. The memories have touched us all, and the performances Jensen brought to The Rift have captured the world many times over.

“Cloud9 and namely Jack have been no less than family to me over the past years, but I am writing this statement to let you know that from now on, I will be playing for Team Liquid.
I am changing things because I feel that will give me the best chance of achieving my goal, to become the very best version of myself.

I have nothing but respect and gratitude for Cloud9, after all they gave me the opportunity to meet my fans, you guys really keep me going. Cloud9 and I may be separating ways in the LCS, but one thing is certain, family really is forever.”
— Nicolaj "Jensen" Jensen
“Jensen is family to everyone here at the organization and to say we’re grateful for what he has helped us achieve feels too underwhelming. This house won’t be the same, this team won’t be the same, but he knows he has lifelong friends and family here for him and it has been a gift getting to work with him. We wish him nothing but the best and eagerly await our paths crossing once more.”
— Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Owner

From everyone here at Cloud9, thank you, Jensen. We look forward to the many accomplishments that lie ahead for you.

Cloud9 & Secretlab Launch Partnership, Special Edition Chair

By John Nomis | | Read more

UNITED STATES, NOV 18, 2018: Esports organization of the year Cloud9, also the most valuable¹ in the world, today announced a partnership with international gaming chair specialist Secretlab. The official tie-up makes the company the official gaming chair partner of Cloud9 and its 17 global teams across a range of titles, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite and Rocket League, in which just last week Cloud9 clinched the world championship, adding to an already full year of successes.

The two brands also launched a new line of co-designed Cloud9 x Secretlab edition chairs, based off of Secretlab’s award-winning OMEGA 2018 and TITAN models. The jointly-branded OMEGA 2018 and TITAN chairs will be available immediately for direct purchase on Secretlab’s website (https://secretlab.co).

The Cloud9 OMEGA 2018 and TITAN editions will feature an exclusive velcro patch design, which will allow fans to collect official C9 patches and customize their Cloud9 Secretlab chair to their heart’s content. Official C9 patches will be available soon from the Cloud9 shop: https://store.cloud9.gg/

The C9 special edition line will also come with all the respective award-winning features of the OMEGA 2018 and TITAN models—such as the multi-tilt mechanism and four-directional armrests, as well as the velour memory-foam lumbar pillow and inbuilt lumbar support system respectively—to provide ample support and cushioning for long hours of seating.

Ranked as the most valuable esports company by Forbes earlier this year, Cloud9 was also named the Esports Organization of the Year at the 2018 Esports Awards for an unparalleled year of championship wins. Just hours before the award ceremony, its Rocket League team clinched the Rocket League world championship. That victory was only the latest success in a year full of them; earlier this year their Overwatch team, London Spitfire, triumphed in the inaugural Overwatch League, and their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) counterparts made history as the first NA team to win a major tournament at the ELEAGUE Boston 2018 Major.

At last month’s League of Legends (LoL) World Championships—a gruelling 2.5 week tournament featuring the most skilled and fearsome LoL teams from all over the globe—Cloud9’s LoL team won the hearts of fans worldwide with their grit and astute strategy to finish among the top 4 on the world’s superstage.

Cloud9 also recently announced its Los Angeles 20,000 to 30,000 square feet training facility and home base is set for completion in 2019, where it will also be fully outfitted with Secretlab’s award-winning chairs. All of C9’s teams will train at the facility, which will also house the organization’s managing staff, sports psychologists, physical therapists, and chef.

Said Ian Alexander Ang, Secretlab’s co-founder and CEO: "Cloud9 started later than many esports organizations out there, but thanks to the incredible spirit from their core management and players, they have in a short span of 4 years become the most famous and valuable¹ esports team in the world. This underdog story is one that we at Secretlab can absolutely relate to, as we have gone through a nearly identical situation in the chair industry. For the years ahead, we'll be supporting Cloud9's backs with our ultra-comfortable, award-winning chairs as they conquer further world championships."

Said Jack Etienne, Cloud9 CEO & Owner: “Secretlab caught our eye as they were making waves in the gaming chair scene. After trying their chairs out, we immediately understood what the fuss was about. We expect our equipment partners to be of the highest professional quality, and Secretlab's products matched our expectations in spades, which was why we decided to partner with them. From here on out, our players will be training for and winning championships in the full comfort provided by the incredible Secretlab Cloud9 chairs."

About Secretlab

Secretlab was established in 2014, with the mission of providing every user with a top-quality gaming chair—each extensively designed and made with only highest-grade materials for incredible comfort and unparalleled support.
